An Ode to Audible - Loving Audible Audiobooks

I'll admit it, I am a convert to audiobooks. I used to think of audiobooks as those grimy boxes of tapes and CDs that my Mother would borrow from the local council-run library. It was a commendable service but I am sure that new forms of bacteria were birthed as people passed them from home to library to home to library etc.
Despite appearances, I am not ignorant of the rampant digital revolution that has transformed the world in the past thirty years. Of course, audiobooks are as straightforward to stream as the music we listen to on Spotify, Amazon Music and Apple Music. This isn't news. However, I just wasn't convinced by listening to audiobooks until I began commuting more in the car.
I'll admit it, I do not like spending money for the sake of it. That's how the Audible "credit" system won me over. I have a simple subscription. I find that my credits accrue month-by-month and when I need to get an audiobook or two they are there for me to spend. The beauty of the system is that each book is only one credit and some "books" are way more than one book! e.g. The Complete Works of Shakespeare!
I am now loving Audible audiobooks. From Agatha Christie to Frederick Forsyth AND my favourite comedy programmes from the radio are there too, like Cabin Pressure.
Don't just take my word for it!
